Meir anti-social behaviour

Meir has been suffering from an increase in anti-social behaviour by gangs over the past few months, from intimidation by groups of youngsters to, worryingly, a number of stabbings.

All levels of this behaviour are unacceptable, and I am determined to find a solution to this.

A few weeks ago, I went out on a shift with the local police in Meir, to learn about the causes of these problems. From speaking to local residents and the police, it is clear that most of the young people in these gangs simply have nothing better to do with their time.

It has been proposed that a new, state-of-the-art 3G football pitch at the Ormiston Meridian Academy – open to the community – could give a welcome boost to Meir, which has been neglected for far too long.

I am petitioning the Football Foundation to release the funds required to build this football pitch. I hope you will join me – you can sign my petition here:
