Today, the Prime Minister announced our route out of lockdown. The route is steady but sure, allowing 5 week gaps between stages to ensure we can gauge the impact of the previous stage before proceeding with the next.

To progress to the next stage, we will need to pass the 4 tests: The vaccine rollout proceeding on time, the vaccines being effective in reducing deaths and hospitalisations, infection rates do not risk an increase in hospitalisations, and no additional risks from other COVID variants.

The stages will proceed as follows:

Stage 1

(8th March)

- All schools to reopen

- Two people able to meet outdoors

(29th March)

- Outdoor gatherings of up to six people (Rule of Six) or two households allowed

- Outdoor sports (football, golf, tennis, etc) to resume

Stage 2

(12th April)

- Non essential shops (including hairdressers, beauty salons) to open

- Gyms to reopen

- Outdoor hospitality (eg Pub gardens) to reopen

- Zoos and theme parks to reopen

- Libraries and community centres to reopen

Stage 3

(17th May)

- Indoor entertainment to open

- large events (football matches, theatres) to restart (with limited numbers)

- Domestic overnight stays can restart

- 30 person limit outdoors

- Organised indoor sport to restart

- Weddings to restart with 30 attendees

Stage 4

(21st June)

- No legal limits on social contact

- Nightclubs to reopen

- No limits on weddings, funerals
