As we mark the 70th birthday of our NHS, Jack Brereton MP has launched his campaign to see improved GP and primary care services in our communities for Stoke-on-Trent South. Whilst we have some fantastic doctors and nurses locally, already providing great services, far too often people have to wait longer than they should do to access health services in their community. Jack is campaigning to see more GPs locally and improve healthcare facilities within our local communities.
Jack said: "It is extremely welcome that Government has announced it will be investing an additional £20.5 billion each year in real terms in our NHS, with the long-term funding plan our NHS needs to see patient care improve further. My campaign is about ensuring we get our fair share of that investment in Stoke-on-Trent and that a significant part of that investment is focused on recruiting more GPs and improving health facilities in our communities.
"We must ensure local healthcare services in our communities are more accessible and that people can get appointments easily when they need one. It is also essential to see GP practices opening more frequently in evenings and weekends to provide the access to services that our communities demand. I would encourage as many people as possible to get behind my campaign to show the importance of improving health services locally."
Increasing the number of GPs locally will mean people can get an appointment more easily and reduce the pressures from people visiting A&E who would be better cared for in our local communities. The Government has committed to see 7-day GP services across the country so that people can access services more easily and this campaign will push for improved out of hours GP services in Stoke-on-Trent South.
As part of his campaign Jack will be running a petition over the next few months to fight for additional GPs and improved primary care facilities in Stoke-on-Trent South. To be part of this campaign and request petition forms please email Jack at: jack.brereton.mp@parliament.uk
